Journalist Adeola Agoro honours Gov. Ademola Adeleke With Premiere of the Movie ‘Okikiola The Fisherman’

Friday, 2 August, 2024 has been fixed for the premiere of the movie, ‘Okikiola The Fisherman’ produced by journalist, Adeola Agoro.

Sen. Ademola Adeleke, the  Governor of Osun State is being honoured with the premiere of the movie for his support during the challenging stages of post-production.

“When his attention was drawn to this this culturally and sensibly significant movie, Okikiola The Fisherman, Gov. Adeleke came on as a champion of the arts and culture and the movie industry by supporting it.

As a way of thanking him and the Government of Osun State for the way they have contributed to the Osun State culture and tourism, cultural heritage preservation by supporting Okikiola the Fisherman, I decided to honour him at the premiere of the movie”, Adeola Agoro said.

The journalist turned movie producer highted the involvement of the governor in promoting the entertainment industry in Osun State with the ambition to drive the economy through the entertainment industry through job creation in the sector.

Okikiola The Fisherman is the story of love, greed, resilience, misleading, and  danger inherent in taking the wrong decisions.  

Okikiola, (Baaj Adebule) the star fisherman of the community, has one aspiration – to marry Dunni, the very beautiful daughter of the struggling parents of his community and he does all within his power to show how ready he is to take care of her.

By a twist of fate, the Yeye Osun of the community of the community(Jumoke George)  has to quickly find a wife for her George son, Daisi (Bolanle Ninalowo), a slent war between the fisherman and the custodian of the river might either devour or open a new vista of hope for some of the characters.What would make Adeyemi (Kunle Afolayan) want to reach for a weapon to attack the fisherman? What would be the game of Iya Ngozi (Faithia Balogun in all of this?

Many notable actors are in the movie and some of them are: Kunle Afolayan, Bolanle Ninalowo (Nino), Faithia Balogun, Baaj Adebule, Jumoke George, Don Richard, Baba Olaiya, Segun Ogungbe and many others.

The movie also has the appearances of 13 foreigners from the United States of America, Spain, Venezuela and Mexico who spoke the Yoruba language well and showed us the way to practice our often-forgotten Osun traditions.  

Adeola Agoro said that the  legacy of promoting the Osun culture is deeply rooted in her and the way she wrote the story of Okikiola the Fisherman is both enchanting and culturally rich and it will only entertain but also promote the unique culture and traditions of the Osun beliefs. 

She said this cinematic masterpiece aims to highlight the beauty and significance of our original religion, and it captures rural and urban locations, the essence of our people, history and folklore.

She went further to say that, “By supporting this film, Gov. Adeleke has not only sought to help preserve and celebrate the cultural identity of Osun State, he is also attracting audiences from diverse background. With thirteen foreigners from the United States of America, Mexico, Spain and Venezuela making their grand appearances where they danced to our songs and spoke our native language, it will in no no small way bring our culture to a vantage position.”

Okikiola The Fisherman is said to be a vivid cinematography and storytelling work and the producer is certain that the audience will witness the splendor of drawing inspiration from local myths and legends that will spark curiosity among viewers, encouraging them to explore more about love, unity, conflicts and all about life, greed and fate.

The highly entertaining, educative and inspiring movie, Okikiola The Fisherman is said to have a strong plot and believable characters.
