Barcelona and Real Madrid now want to sign £50,000-a-week Crystal Palace player
Barcelona and Real Madrid are now both keen to sign a player from Crystal Palace.
Gone are the days of Crystal Palace negotiating with the likes of Plymouth and Peterborough, as the Spanish giants have eyes on Selhurst Park, while Bayern Munich finalise a £55m deal to sign Michael Olise.
So, which Crystal Palace player do Barcelona and Real Madrid want to sign? Let’s take a look…
A story from The Sun now claims that Barcelona and Real Madrid want to sign Marc Guehi this summer.
The Crystal Palace No.6 has announced himself to the football world with his performances for England at Euro 2024 this summer, showing the rest of Europe what the Selhurst Park faithful already knew.
It is also said that Juventus, Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United are looking at Guehi too, with the 23-year-old expected to be sold by Crystal Palace this summer.
The Sun believe Crystal Palace want £50m to sell the man from Abidjan as he enters the final 24 months of his £50,000-a-week contract in SE25.
Those at Selhurst Park are fearful that Guehi will not sign a new contract and end up taking his deal to the final 12 months next summer, which would leave Crystal Palace at risk of only receiving a fraction of his actual value.
Real Madrid are looking to replace Nacho after he left to join Al Qadsiah, and Guehi – who has struck up a close bond with Jude Bellingham in Germany this summer – is an option for the European champions.
Coincidentally, Crystal Palace have just been linked with a bargain £2m move for KAA Gent No.23 Jordan Torunarigha.
German news outlet BILD believe Dougie Freedman could sign the Nigeria international for half of his market value as he enters the final 12 months of his own contract with the Belgian Pro League side.
That report initially seemed strange to us, as Chadi Riad has already signed to bolster the centre-back department, so a move for Torunarigha wouldn’t make much sense unless Guehi leaves.
Therefore, if Barcelona or Real Madrid end up signing the £18m man from us this summer, Freedman could make a swift move for Torunarigha as a replacement.
