Arsenal are reportedly closing in on finding an agreement with Sporting CP for the signing of striker Viktor Gyokeres.

The Gunners have identified the Swedish forward to improve their frontline next season and help add more goals to Mikel Arteta’s squad.

This comes after Gyokeres enjoyed a terrific 2023/24 season with Sporting. He scored 29 goals across all competitions for the Portuguese side last season, proving himself as a quality finisher.

The 26-year-old is, of course, going to be slotted into his natural centre-forward role if he arrives at Arsenal. That would mean Kai Havertz be moved to a midfield role alongside Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice.

Gyokeres’ arrival is likely to spell bad news for the likes of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah. Neither are going to get regular game-time if a new forward arrives, especially as Havertz is going to remain as the second-choice centre-forward.

With that being said, the 26-year-old will add more unpredictability to Arsenal’s attack if he arrives and be a threatening presence in the box. Here is how the Gunners are likely to line up with Gyokeres.
