Ipswich are now bidding for a player who West Ham and Tottenham have both made contact to sign in recent weeks.

The Tractor Boys are certainly showing ambition after returning to the Premier League under Kieran McKenna, spending £20m to sign Omari Hutchinson while also luring Ben Johnson to Portman Road.

Now, Ipswich could also bring one of the Championship’s best talents to Portman Road…

Ipswich make Jacob Greaves bid

TBR Football understand that Ipswich have now launched a bid to sign Hull No.4 Jacob Greaves.

Sources inform us that the 23-year-old has also been the subject of enquiries from Tottenham, Aston Villa and Wolves this summer, while Everton and West Ham have even been in talks with the Tigers about a deal.

Now – however – Ipswich have submitted the first concrete bid for Greaves.

TBR Football have been told that the Tractor Boys were keen to sign Joe Rodon before Tottenham used the Wales international in a £30m deal to land Archie Gray from Leeds.

Ipswich have also looked at Celtic No.20 Cameron Carter-Vickers, although Greaves has now emerged as the No.1 option at Portman Road, with a bid made.

Sources also tell TBR Football that Ipswich have asked Hull about Jaden Philogene as well – a top talent who Barcelona have bid for, according to Florian Plettenburg of Sky Germany.

Kieran McKenna could land two diamonds

If Ipswich manage to sign both Greaves and Philogene, fans at Portman Road should be buzzing.

As aforesaid, the latter is a top talent who has even caught Barcelona’s eye, with his trickery leading him to score a potential Puskas winner against Rotherham last season – a strike Micah Richards called “ridiculous” on The Rest Is Football podcast.

In regards to Greaves, the £15,000-a-week man has been described as one of the best central defenders outside of the Premier League, and even picked up three different prizes at Hull’s End of Season awards evening.

Hull’s vice-captain secured the Supporters’ Player of the Year, Players’ Player of the Year and Player of the Year for an outstanding 2023/24 campaign.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Ipswich wait to see if their bid is successful.
