You can use the below fixes to resolve the Calibration Error message on your HP printer:

  1. Start with some generic troubleshooting practices.
  2. Load a plain white paper in the paper and then align the cartridge.
  3. Use the Align Printer option.
  4. Contact a service center.

1] Start with some generic troubleshooting practices

You can begin with some standard troubleshooting tips and tricks to fix this error. First, restart your printer or power cycle it by turning off the printer, unplugging the power cords from the main power source, waiting for 60 seconds, and then reconnecting the printer.

Another thing you can do is make sure that you have installed pending firmware updates. To do that, tap on the HP ePrint icon on your printer, click on the Settings menu, and select the right option to install firmware updates. Printers with the text-based menu can be updated using the Setup > Settings > Service > Preferences > Printer Maintenance > Tools > Web Services > Printer Update > Update option.

Also, clean the print heads and ensure that you have set up the correct print and paper settings.

2] Load a plain white paper in the paper and then align the cartridge

This error might occur due to a failed cartridge alignment caused because of color, photo, or used paper loaded in the input tray during the process. So, in that case, it is recommended to put a white plain paper in the input tray while aligning the cartridge.

To do that, remove the used paper from the input tray and slide the paper width guide to the furthest edge. Now, put an unused plain white letter or A4-sized paper into the tray and move the paper width guide inward to rest it against the paper edge. Once done, press the OK button and see if the error is fixed now.

3] Use the Align Printer option

The next thing you can do is use the Align Printer option to align the cartridges and see if it resolves the error. Here’s how:

  • First, tap on the Setup button from the printer’s control panel.
  • Now, choose Tools and press OK.
  • Next, highlight the Align Printer option and then press OK.
  • Let the printer align the cartridges and see if the error is fixed.

4] Contact a service center

The last resort to fix this error is to contact a nearby HP service center. It might be a factory error. So, get your printer checked by a technician. They should be able to fix the error for you.

That’s it.
