'Dad Hats,' Inspired by Owen Wilson’s new golf show news

Few images are as burned in our brains as actor-golfer Luke Wilson’s sultry model shots for Criquet’s line of performance golf shirts (I mean, hello). Now, it’s his brother, Owen Wilson, hitting the golf headlines with news of an upcoming Apple TV+ comedy series focused on the life of a washed-up pro struggling with the hilarious (or at least comically familiar) cocktail that is midlife on the rocks. But this "dad-hat" trend is totally rocking! Pair it with a stylishly oversized and boxy cut tee or, for the ladies, your go-to leggings and cardigan throw.

PXG Highlight, SS Drop

The techy equipment brand’s apparel offerings have, for a longtime now, been subtly packing quite the sartorial punch. For the men’s side, this season’s drop ditches reserve for statement-making staples. And on the women’s side, led by golf and style crusader Renee Parsons, the silhouettes are bold, sporty, feminine and yet somehow also practical. In terms of large name brands doing clothing differently, PXG is one to watch.

After Hours with Byrdie Golf Social Wear

The peppy women’s brand known for its flirty cute performance wear designed for the course has just launched its first two-item capsule of “social wear,” living up to the namesake and promising more gorgeousness to come. The release includes a sage-hued leafy floral gown, ideal for garden parties, sunset cocktails or summer weddings, in a mid- and floor-length variety, complete with a dramatic train and on-trend puffy, prairie-style sleeve. Bonus points if you wear this for a whole round.

Trend Alert: Double Rainbow

We’re tracking this happy trend of supersaturated, technicolor hues, as seen in G/Fore’s skippy shoe release marked by vibrant sole detailing, and Malbon’s limited-edition collaboration with the Japanese brand, BEAMS Golf. Both bring the joys of the sport to the forefront in clothing that’ll boost your mood even if you get hit with a surprise spring shower.

Students “Commitment Is Not an Issue”

It seems like Students releases a new capsule as often as a spring-fever teen skips classes. This collection draws on the brand’s knack for the cut-and-sew technique paired with wry typeface and a restrained color palette, now featuring more elevated pieces for more upscale looks, without sacrificing the brand’s skater roots.

GOLF le FLEUR x Humanrace Nail Polish

“Golf,” singer Pharrell Williams said, “is where sport and fashion come together in a more laid-back style.” The new creative head of Louis Vuitton men’s has partnered with another golf style icon, Tyler, the Creator, to create a Masters-worthy green nail polish that’s vegan, cruelty-free, made in the USA and luxe, all for a cool $25. (P.S. Williams, who is known for his sport-plus-fashion finesse, even owns a bespoke Hermès golf bag, so you can color us green with envy.)

Bad Birdie Sends Warm Wishes

If you’re looking for the desert-cool brand’s signature graphic prints and jewel-toned colors, you will not be disappointed. The brand’s spring drop relies heavily on the rhetoric of old-school prep meets whimsical design and features looks for every member of your clubhouse, from the kiddos to the relics (wise owls, elders or whatever the cool kids are calling them these days).

Arguably the most aesthetically interesting golf shoe to come from UA, the new Phantom golf shoe is now available in a heathered gray and icy blue colorway. The obvious standout feature is the thick, well-cushioned midsole that resembles the popular running shoes of today's market (think Nike free runs and anything from New Balance). Despite its runner's vibe, this is a spikeless golf shoe that has the potential to rival the likes of Ecco and FootJoy—especially brands that prioritize comfort and performance in footwear. In addition to the tasteful design of the Phantom, the waterproof knit upper and collar of this shoe makes it a wonderful transitional shoe, especially as the cold temperatures break into spring, keeping you cool and dry during those damp rounds.

adidas has been on a tear in the New Year, starting strong with a Malbon Collab and then firing some great additions to its Go-To collection. Designed with a mix of greens and blues, this collection features some fun pieces that are casually cool. From fun textured vests to utility-style rompers, there's something for every type of golfer.

adidas TOUR360 "Broken Glass" shoe

A little mosaic, a little geometric, these monochrome white kickers from adidas were debuted by Collin Morikawa at the Sentry, and we can only hope/guess/dream that these will be available to us common golfers and shoe-donners soon. The shoes have the signature adidas three-stripe in an elongated pattern, as well as the recognizable boost technology in the heel and a durable, multi-weather leather upper.
