Two people have died after a truck rammed a parked, fruit-laden truck in Rajbari’s Kalukhali Upazila.

The accident occurred on the Rajbari-Kushtia regional road in the Kalibari area of the Upazila’s Madapur Union around 6:15am, said Md Harun Ur Rashid, chief of Pangsa Highway Police Station.

The dead have been identified as Md Liton, 35, and Anisur, 35. Both worked as assistants to truck drivers.

A fruit-laden truck headed for Kushtia had broken down in the area, OC Harun said.

Liton was standing behind the truck and attempting to repair it.

“Another truck headed for Kushtia suddenly rammed into the back of the truck. Anisur, the assistant on the other truck, was killed on the spot.”

Liton was seriously injured in the accident. He was rescued, but died on the way to Kushtia Sadar Hospital.

Legal action will be taken over the incident, OC Harun said.
