Saffas Abroad: Bedingham can't stop scoring
Durham batsman David Bedingham reaches his half century.

David Bedingham, Dean Elgar and Migael Pretorius were the star South African performers in Englandโ€™s County Championship and T20 Blast this past week.

County Championship Division One

David Bedingham passed 50 for the fifth consecutive innings this season, with a knock of 65 off 72 deliveries (nine fours) for Durham against Essex.

The Proteas batsman remains the top run-scorer in the competition with 909 in 13 innings at an average of 75.75.

Also in Durhamโ€™s first innings, Colin Ackermann struck 73 off 104 balls (11 fours and one six).

Former Proteas spinner Simon Harmer dominated with the ball in both innings for Essex, taking 4-188 and 4-75.

Ex-Proteas Test captain Dean Elgar scored 40 runs off 65 balls (seven fours) in Essexโ€™s first innings of the match and followed it up with 120 off 232 deliveries (13 fours) to help his side hang on for a draw.

Meanwhile,ย Migael Pretoriusย struck with both bat and ball in Nottinghamshireโ€™s draw with Somerset, following up a first-innings spell of 4-96 with 95* off just 71 deliveries (eight fours, six sixes).

Gareth Roderick, who was born in Durban and played first-class cricket for KwaZulu-Natal, scored 63 runs off 140 balls (eight fours) in Surreyโ€™s crushing innings-and-five-run victory over Worcestershire.

County Championship Division Two

Joburg-born Ricardo Vasconcelos fell one run short of what would have been a well-deserved century in a tightly-contested draw between Northamptonshire and Glamorgan. He faced 173 deliveries and struck 12 fours.

T20 Blast

Dean Elgar scored his third fifty for Essex in this seasonโ€™s Blast โ€“ 60 off 44 balls (seven fours and one six) โ€“ in an eight-wicket victory over Hampshire.

Northamptonshireโ€™s Matthew Breetzke hit a quick-fire 47 off 26 balls (six fours and one six) in a nail-biting tied match against Leicestershire.

Wayne Madsen struck 40 off 35 deliveries (three fours and one six) in Derbyshireโ€™s eight-run loss to Nottinghamshire, andย also took a superb catch to dismiss Tom Moores.
