Eno Demands Swift, Quality Delivery, Declares Learning Phase Over

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has urged ministries, departments, and agencies to accelerate the pace of quality delivery as his administration enters its second year.

This call was made during the first Executive Council meeting of his second year in office at Government House, Uyo.

Governor Eno emphasized to his team that the period for learning is over, and safety awareness must be heightened. He insisted that safety should be a primary consideration in all activities.

Sectoral reports presented to the Executive Council by various ministries highlighted the activities and achievements of the MDAs in their first year. These reports were made available to the press by the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong.

The Economic Adviser to the Governor presented a quantitative data perspective report on the state government’s performance over the past year. The report revealed achievements in the following sectors:

“Six hundred ( 600) elderly persons have benefited from the State Government’s financial support., 2,195 people who were within the multidimensional poor category have been scaled up through various government programmes. 4,600 persons were engaged (Skilled and unskilled labour) have been employed in all sectors, across the state.

“Two hundred and twenty nine thousand four hundred and eleven (229.411 Km) of roads, with 14 bridges and 3 underground discharge drainage have been constructed. 37.7Km of feeder roads have been constructed in rural communities across the state. 16,522 patients benefited from free medical healthcare sponsored by the State Government.

Forty eight thousand seven hundred and ninty seven( 48,797) students have benefited from the payment of 2023/24 SSCE fees. 4,603 people have benefited from the different entrepreneurship schemes of the state government. 3,583 retirees (from the state and Local Government Services) have received their retirement benefits to the tune of N18.234 billion, as at May, 2024.”. The report stated

The meeting also saw the presentation of the State Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for 2025-2027 by the Commissioner for Economic Development. This framework will guide the state’s budget for the next two years and was adopted by the Council after detailed deliberations.
