ACCRA, Ghana (News Ghana) – The National Labour Commission (NLC) has announced a new meeting date of Wednesday, July 10, for discussions with the leadership of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG).

This follows the association’s non-appearance at a previously scheduled meeting on Wednesday, July 3, due to ongoing strike actions.

CLOGSAG had declined to attend the meeting on Wednesday, July 3, citing concerns over the committee’s composition tasked with addressing their members’ grievances.

Executive Secretary Ofosu Asamoah has confirmed that the NLC has taken CLOGSAG’s objections seriously. The commission has reviewed the panel’s composition and responded to their concerns by referencing relevant sections of the Labour Act.

“We have requested the ministries and the Office of the Senior Presidential Advisor respond accordingly. The commission has now rescheduled the meeting for July 10,” Asamoah confirmed in an interview with Citi News.

Asamoah has reiterated the NLC’s position on the strike action. He emphasized the importance of CLOGSAG ceasing its strike action in line with the forthcoming meeting, highlighting the need for constructive dialogue to resolve the ongoing dispute effectively.

The rescheduling underscores ongoing efforts to mediate and address the concerns of CLOGSAG members within the framework of Ghana’s labour laws.
