A pair of Good Samaritans use their kayaks to pull a stranded boat to shore Tuesday at Lake Havasu State Park. The boat became adrift after apparent engine failure, beneath 112-degree heat.

Two California boaters were stranded this week on the water at Lake Havasu State Park, after their boat's engine may have overheated. And with area temperatures approaching 112 degrees, they could soon have had even more to worry about.

California resident Wilma Wambaugh and boyfriend, Victor Ramos, were on the water for about an hour offshore at Lake Havasu State Park this week, having cast off Tuesday afternoon from the venue's popular launch ramp. Their boat became inoperable, Ramos said, causing their watercraft to drift toward a nearby bed of reeds.
