'The Addams Family': What Happened To Anjelica Huston?
Best known for her role as "Morticia Addams" in The Addams Family during the 1990s, Anjelica Huston has been active in show business since she was little because she grew up in a family full of artists! Her mother Enrica Soma was a ballet dancer, and her father John Huston was a film director and actor, that's why she actually started to act by taking a few small roles in her father's movies in the late 1960s. However, her major breakthrough was in 1969 at the age of 18 in the film A Walk with Love and Death. During the 1970's she also worked as a model.
In 1985 she portrayed "Maerose" in her father's film Prizzi's Honor, which earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, becoming the third generation of her family to receive an Oscar, joining her father and grandfather Walter Huston, very prominent figures in the film industry. In the 1990s she won two Golden Globe awards for her role as "Morticia Addams" in The Addams Family and its sequel, where she shared credits with Raul Julia and other celebrities. In 1996 the actress followed in her father's footsteps and made her debut as a director with the film Bastard out of Carolina, which received positive reviews.
Anjelica Huston has not stopped acting since she was a little kid! Some of her most recent professional credits include films like Material Girls (2006), The Darjeeling Limited (2007), The Big Year (2011), and The Cleanse (2016). She recently worked on the British-Canadian animated comedy film Arctic Justice: Thunder Squad, where she voiced "Maureen." In television, her most recent work was in the 2018 comedy series Angie Tribeca; and in the past few years she also appeared in the supernatural drama series Medium as well as in Huff. Most recently however you can see her in the 2021 film The French Dispatch and in the 2024 series Star Wars: The Bad Batch.
