Serie A: Super Eagles hero against South Africa joins two-time Italian champions

Lazio announced that they have completed the signing of Super Eagles midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru on a season-long loan from Turkish Super Lig side Hatayspor.

Fisayo, 21, had a breakout season in Turkey last term after joining from English side Sheffield Wednesday in the summer of 2023. Thanks to his spectacular performances, he has left the club after one season.

Fisayo to Lazio

Serie A side Lazio, via their official channels, announced the incorporation of Oluwafisayo Faruq Dele-Bashiru from Hatayspor on loan, with an obligation to buy in the summer of 2025.

“SS Lazio announces that it has acquired on a temporary basis with an obligation to buy the rights to the sporting performances of the footballer Oluwafisayo Faruq Dele-Bashiru from Atakaş Hatayspor FK,” the club announced.

The negotiations for Fisayo have gone on for weeks, as reported by Pulse Sports. New Lazio boss Marco Baroni had a veto over the deal, with the initial report stating that the move was contingent on him signing off.

The deal going ahead suggests that Baroni is satisfied with the inclusion of Fisayo, and this will bode well for his chances at the club.

Fisayo joins Lazio on loan this season, and the Rome-based club will have to pay a future reported to be around €8 million for the 23-year-old British Nigerian midfielder.

He started 34 league games for Hatayspor in the Super Lig last season. He scored eight goals and provided three assists for them.
