DG Ahmed hails military for support to NYSC

The Director of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.- Gen YD Ahmed has applauded the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for their immense contributions to the success of the Scheme’s activities, especially the orientation courses.

He specifically lauded the Army for its efforts towards the resumption of orientation exercise in Borno state during the 2023 Batch ‘C’ Stream One, thirteen years after the last one was held due to insecurity.

He gave the commendation in Maiduguri when he paid separate visits to the Theater Commander, Joint Taskforce (North-East) Operation Hadin Kai, Major General W Shaibu and the Acting General Officer Commanding, 7 Div Nigerian Army, Maiduguri, Brig.- Gen AGL Haruna.

A press statement by the director, press and public relations, Eddy Megwa quoted General Ahmed as appreciating them for the welfare of corps members, logistics, security and other forms of support being provided for the NYSC Borno state secretariat, especially through security surveillance of corps lodges across the state. 

He requested for the continuation of the synergy between the Theatre Operation, 7 Div and NYSC in Borno state.

In his response, the Theatre Commander, Maj.-Gen W Shaibu, commended General Ahmed for his unique style of leadership, especially on the welfare and security of corps members and NYSC staff since he assumed duty.

“I want to assure you of our continuous support for the NYSC Scheme and consolidate on the achievements of the return of normalcy to Borno state.

“We will continue to create more enabling environment for the Scheme to thrive in Borno state”, the commander said.

Also, while receiving the NYSC Director General in his office, the Acting General Officer Commanding, 7 Div Nigerian Army Maiduguri, Brigadier General AGL Haruna congratulated General Ahmed for using his wealth of experiences to rebrand the NYSC.

He commended him for serving as a good ambassador of the Nigerian Army, adding that all security agencies were ready to offer necessary assistance to the NYSC in Borno state.
