Nigeria faces a critical challenge in preventing mother-to-child transmission of HIV and ensuring access to care for children living with HIV.

To this end, the Minister of state for health and social welfare has now established a national committee on the prevention of mother to child transmission and pediatrics aids acceleration.

This is in order to accelerate the existing scale up plans and achieve substantial progress in the HIV and aids response in the country.

The committee is expected to be replicated at the sub national level to provide oversight to the PMTCT/pediatrics scale up plane across states.
