A 27-year-old man died of a gunshot wound in Lawrence early Monday, a little more than a day after a teenager was shot and killed just a couple miles away.

Lawrence police responded to a call at Riverfront State Park on Everett Street at 12:18 a.m. and found the man with a gunshot wound to the head, Essex District Attorney Paul Tucker and Lawrence Police Chief Melix Bonilla said in a joint press release.

Authorities did not publicly identify the man, who died at the scene.

Detectives from the Lawrence Police Department and Massachusetts State Police are investigating the incident. Tucker and Bonilla urged anyone with information on the shooting to call Lawrence police at 978-794-5900 or State Police detectives at 978-745-8908.

Monday’s incident came on the heels of another deadly shooting in Lawrence. On Saturday night, officers found a 17-year-old boy suffering from fatal gunshot wounds in the area of Brook Street. The boy, who has not been publicly identified, was pronounced dead at Lawrence General Hospital.
