In a press conference held on Monday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Nasarawa State addressed the recent controversies stemming from the stakeholders’ meeting held on May 6th, 2024. The State Secretary, Yairus G. Dagusa, emphasized the party’s commitment to unity and progress amidst internal discord.

Dagusa expressed dismay at what he called “unwarranted mudslinging” and divisive statements from both within and outside the party, urging for restraint and decorum among members. He emphasized the importance of solidarity, particularly in light of upcoming elections.

The party’s intention in convening the stakeholders’ meeting, according to Dagusa, was to gather feedback, address grievances, and foster reconciliation within the party. He underscored the need for all members to prioritize unity over personal interests or external influences.

Regarding the controversy surrounding the state chairman, Hon. Aliyu Bello, Dagusa clarified the process of his election, stating that it was conducted in accordance with the party’s constitution and duly approved by the National Working Committee (NWC).

Addressing speculations about Bello’s relationship with Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, Dagusa emphasized their longstanding friendship and dismissed allegations of favoritism, asserting the party’s commitment to fair and transparent processes.

Dagusa cautioned party members against being swayed by misinformation and urged them to focus on supporting the administration of Governor Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule. He highlighted the achievements of the APC-led government in Nasarawa State and called for continued support for its developmental agenda.

Dagusa reaffirmed the party’s support for Chairman Aliyu Bello and called for unity among members. He assured that the party would uphold fairness, justice, and equity in its operations, urging all stakeholders to work together for the benefit of the party and the state.
