The fallout in the All Progressives Congress (APC) after conducting primary election marred by manipulation, lack of transparency/inclusiveness and imposition has prompted party faithful and Aspirants to rethink their alignment.

This like of thought seems to be gaining prominence in Oyun local government area following indifference of APC leadership to members’ genuine grievances.

Recall that the ruling party announced an Aspirant who did not participate in primary election process as winner of the controversial shadow poll in Oyun local government.

APC members have accused their leaders of imposition non-popular candidate to give the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) undue advantage as a result of rancour within the ruling party.

Political Analysts have predicted repeat of what transpired during House of Assembly election in 2023 where PDP emerged victorious for presenting a popular candidate against APC that reportedly imposed candidate.

From grassroots assessment, the ruling party has played another home goal that would affect their performance during September 21 local government elections. The imposing of candidate has demoralized core Party loyalists who described action of their leaders as selfish which will not yield good results.

According to them, Yes, we know it local government elections. We are ready to mobilize people to vote the right candidate, irrespective of political parties. We have done before and we will repeat it again.

“The removed elected House of Assembly member, Otunba to show their power. Almighty God is supreme and we trust him to deliver our candidate during the election.”
