POLICE have issued a silver alert for the son of an ex-NFL player who has gone missing.

The alert was declared after 14-year-old Bryson Muir after his parents backed out on their meeting with police.

Byson, of Indiana, has been considered missing for 12 days, according to Fox affiliate WXIN.

Indiana State Police described Bryson as a 6’2″, 185-pound Black male with black hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen with a black eye and was wearing an orange Under Armor shirt and blue jeans.

Bryson is the son of former Indianapolis Colts defensive lineman Daniel Muir.

Muir played for the Colts for four seasons and ended his run in 2011.

LAST SEEN

Police believe Bryson may have been the victim of domestic abuse while living at his home on Servant Leader’s Foundation in Logansport — about 75 miles west of Fort Wayne, per NBC affiliate WTHR.

It is part of a large property, which is owned by a religious group in Kokomo — about 82 miles west of Fort Wayne.

Bryson was last seen with his mother, Kristen Muir, on June 16 when they were leaving his grandmothers in the Cleveland, Ohio area, according to WTHR.

His grandmother called the police to report the alleged abuse and showed a picture of the boy with a black eye.

In the image, Byson’s right eye is swollen almost shut – evidence of potential abuse.

However, when police pulled over the mother soon after the report, Bryson was not in the car.

“It was minutes, it wasn’t a very long period of time whatsoever,” Indiana State Police Captain Ron Galaviz said, reported by WTHR.

“But in that period of time, Bryson wasn’t able to be found. We don’t know where he went.”

The car was reportedly a white 2015 Chevrolet Suburban that belongs to the Servant Leader’s Foundation, according to WTHR.

What is a silver alert?

There are certain qualifications that must be met for a Silver Alert to be issued. The criteria also differ from state to state.

For a Silver Alert to be issued, the person must be:

  • a missing endangered adult
  • a missing endangered child
  • a high-risk missing person
  • or have a mental impairment validated through a credible medical authority

There must also be enough information about the person that the national broadcast will be helpful.

Due to his mysterious disappearance, police asked the Cass County Department of Child Services to step in.

“Multiple attempts by DCS to contact mom and dad were unsuccessful,” Galaviz said, reported by WTHR.

“We too have not been able to contact Bryson’s parents, Daniel and Kristen Muir. So, what we’re asking for is for the public’s assistance.”

Police said Bryson is considered missing and endangered.

‘UNWILLINGNESS TO COOPERATE’

Only on Thursday, June 27 were his parents able to be contacted by police.

They began to cooperate and agreed to bring their son to meet with police at the Peru Post in Indiana, police said per WXIN.

The plan was to meet at 12 pm on Friday, June 28, according to police.

However, at around 11 am, Daniel and Kristen Muir “backed out” of the arrangement and it “signaled an unwillingness to cooperate” with police.

Officials are now pleading for anyone to provide information on his whereabouts.

“We would consider the father, Daniel, a person of interest and somebody that we definitely want to speak to,” Galaviz said, per WTHR.

“But again, at the end of the day, Bryson’s safety and wellbeing is of utmost importance.”

The U.S. Sun has contacted the Indiana State Police for comment.
