Joao Cancelo is eager to rejoin FC Barcelona this summer after being excluded from Manchester City’s first-team plans for over a year. With Guardiola reshaping the City squad and utilizing other full-back options successfully, Cancelo was deemed surplus to requirements and went on loan to Bayern Munich and then Barcelona.
Manchester City is now looking for a permanent sale of Cancelo, with a reported asking price of €20-30 million, rather than another loan deal. Cancelo himself prefers to stay at Barcelona in the upcoming season. However, it remains to be seen if Barcelona can secure the finances needed for a permanent deal with Cancelo, especially after opting out of pursuing Bernardo Silva earlier in the transfer window.
If Cancelo does leave Manchester City, the club is unlikely to seek a direct replacement, as they believe they have enough depth within their roster to cope without him. Despite interest from Barcelona, the final decision on Cancelo’s future remains uncertain as both clubs navigate the financial aspects of a potential transfer.
