The Detroit Lakes Ligers fell to the Fergus Falls Hurricanes and the Moorhead Mudcats this past weekend on Friday, July 12, and Sunday, July 14.
DETROIT LAKES — The Detroit Lakes Ligers competed against two Red River Amateur Baseball League opponents over the weekend.
The Ligers struggled to put up runs as they fell to the Fergus Falls Hurricanes 12-3 on Friday, July 12. Detroit Lakes welcomed the Moorhead Mudcats to Washington Ballpark on Sunday, July 14. The Mudcats came away with an 8-2 victory.
On Friday, Blaine Henderson started on the mound for the Ligers. He hurled four innings, allowed eight runs on six hits, and struck out two batters. Austin LaFriniere came in for two innings of relief. He gave up two runs and two hits and struck out one batter.
Seven batters recorded one hit for the Ligers. Jacob Thomas drove in a pair of runs. Mason Omberg, Jordan Tucker, Hunter Korth, Joshua Goodspeed, Trevor Tappe, and Bradley Swiers all recorded one hit.
Detroit Lakes tallied four hits as a team against Moorhead on Sunday. Swiers, Omberg, Zack Oistad, and Grady Kirchner each recorded a hit. Thomas drove in one run for the Ligers.
Swiers started on the mound for Detroit Lakes. He threw eight innings and allowed seven runs on 12 hits and struck out three batters. Thomas threw one inning of relief and gave up one run and struck out one batters.
The Ligers are back in action on Wednesday, July 17 as they resume a game that was suspended due to weather against the Fosston Trash Pandas.
