have refused to be a part of their husbands warring.

The wives of quarrelling politicians, Senator Gbenga Daniel and Govenor Ghenga Daniel have refused to be a part of their husbands warring.

Olufunke Daniel and Bamidele Abiodun showcased the status of their relationship with the exchanges of warm embrace and hearty greetings at the recent traditional wedding ceremony of the children of former Senator Tolu Odebiyi and business woman, Bola Shagaya.

The high profile wedding took place at the Harbour point, Victoria Island, Lagos on Saturday July 6, 2024.

The exchange between Funke Daniel and Bamidele Abiodun comes in the face of renewed “hostility” by their husbands over intense supremacy tussle to determine who is in control of the politics of Ogun state.

Senator Daniel and Governor Abiodun are chieftains of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Among the reasons for their quarrel are who determines Abiodun’s successor and whether Daniel – also a former two term governor of Ogun state – gets to retain his seat as Senator.

Senator Daniel

Daniel who helped Abiodun to win his first-term election as Governor in 2019 outwitted strong opposition from the Governor to become a Senator – with a historic margin – in 2023.

The political quarrel between the APC chieftains started over alleged actions and in actions of Abiodun after he was sworn-in for his first term in office. The political quarrel heightened over the Governor’s opposition to Daniel’s Senatorial ambition and spiraled out of  control on the wings of claims Daniel who won his Senatorial election by a record margin contributed to Abiodun’s near-miss in his second term bid.

Governor Abiodun

The partial demolition of a multi-storey building owned by Senator Daniel’s wife Olufunke by the Abiodun administration over claims of flouting environmental laws, after the election, has not helped the situation.

The wives of the warring political chieftains, however, put the “situation ” with their husbands aside on Saturday to exchange a very warm embrace and hearty greetings – like they used to do, before politics tore their husbands apart
