Jailbreak news of the week: 17.0 TrollStore install method nearly 100% reliable, Witcher app switcher, & more…

idownloadblog.com 2024/10/5

The iDownloadBlog team loves jailbreaking iPhones and iPads as much as the next guy, so it’s no wonder that we dedicate so much time and energy to sharing the latest news and releases for jailbreakers at heart to take advantage of.

Weekly jailbreak news roundup.

In today’s piece, iDB intends to share everything that’s new in the iPhone hacking and jailbreaking communities spanning the week of Monday, July 1st to Sunday, July 7th. We’ll start with our favorite tidbits first, and then outline everything else afterward.

So without further ado, let’s jump in.

Important stuff from this week

TrollInstaller17 tidbits

Many of our readers are eagerly awaiting the upcoming TrollStore installation method for iOS & iPadOS 17.0, and while details are scarce right now, a few nuggets of information have been revealed that might make you even more excited about it.

From what we can gather, the installation method will be released on GitHub and have a 100% success rate. This information, along with a little bit more, was shared by TrollStore co-developer @alfiecg_dev in the /r/jailbreak Discord server, and we talk about it more in-depth in our full news post.

Witcher

The Witcher App Switcher replacement for jailbroken iPhones has officially been released, and it has iOS 15 support right now with iOS 16 support allegedly coming in the future.

Witcher replaces the native App Switcher with a carousel-style interface that’s faster and more intuitive to use.

You can learn more about Witcher and what you can do with it in our full review post.

BadgeSync

There’s clearly a problem with the iOS & iPadOS notification system. When you attempt to dismiss a notification banner from the Lock Screen or Notification Center, the corresponding app’s badge sometimes remains on the Home Screen’s app icon.

BadgeSync is a new and free jailbreak tweak that fixes this problem, once and for all. This way, you aren’t using twice as much effort to dismiss notifications when it should be a one-and-done deal.

You can learn more about BadgeSync and how it works in our full review post.

Find Alert

Find Alert is a new jailbreak app for iPhones and iPads that can notify you every single time someone tries to tap your device’s location via Apple’s ‘Find My’ network.

Once installed, you’ll get notifications for queries about your device’s location. You can also monitor logs and choose to spoof your location from the person attempting to track you.

You can learn more about this app and how it works in our full review post.

HapticPlane

No more accidentally turning on Airplane Mode and not realizing it, and that’s thanks to a new and free jailbreak tweak called HapticPlane.

With this tweak, you’re provided with subtle haptic feedback when you turn on Airplane Mode on your device, which is useful even when you aren’t looking at your screen or can’t see it because of Sun glare.

You can learn more about HapticPlane in our full review post.

Cowabunga Lite updates

Cowabunga Lite for Windows screenshot.

The Cowabunga Lite utility for installing certain hacks on iPhones and iPads via Apple’s backup/restore process has been updated with respect to both the macOS and Windows builds.

These updates are relatively small, but worth mentioning because of the bug fixes and stability improvements.
