Biden commends Ramaphosa over coalition government

United States President, Joe Biden, while speaking to South Africa President, Cyril Ramaphosa, via the phone has commended the Republic of South Africa for forming a Government of National Unity. He also congratulated him on his recent re-election by the National Assembly to serve again as President of the Republic of South Africa.

Biden highlighted South Africa’s legacy as a democratic leader, as South Africa celebrates 30 years of democracy. The two leaders discussed South Africa’s Government of National Unity and a commitment from all parties to work in partnership towards a growing economy, better jobs, safer communities, and a government that works for its people.

They also discussed the America-South Africa bilateral relationship, and areas of future partnership, including leadership in the G20.They both expressed commitment to deepen their cooperation and advance shared interests, including growing economic prosperity, combating the climate crisis, strengthening health systems, and ensuring democracy.
