The territorial police in the Albertine region say none of the 28 computers that were stolen from Nyairongo Seed Secondary School in Kabwoya Sub-county, Kikuube District, has been recovered.

Police in the Albertine region have appealed to the general public for clues to  identify people who broke into the school and took 28 computers that the government had just procured to aid students learning.

"While our efforts are on to hunt down the thieves who took the school computers, our investigation team is still not getting any traces, so we now ask the general public especially those in Nyairongo to privately inform us so that we can make headways," Albertine Region Police spokesperson Julius Hakiza sai.

"If they are not recovered our students will be missing out, these were meant to aid students in learning especially with the current environment of information technology."

Mr Hakiza said apart from two suspects who include Bashir Besigye, a lab technician, and Faustino a night watchman who were charged with neglect of duty, they have not made any other arrest.

Local leaders are now calling upon the government to consider them for another batch to fill the gap of the 28 computers that had just been delivered to the school saying students are missing out.

"The school has about 500 students, so all these are missing out classes related to information and communication technology that is only possible with computers," Nyairongo LC 1 chairman Desire Nkurunzinza said.

The computers, worth Shs90 million, were procured by the Ministry of Education and Sports with funding from the World Bank to support and enhance science and technology education.
