JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was arrested Friday for vehicular homicide in a deadly crash on Interstate 10 in Jacksonville last Sunday that sent multiple people to the hospital. 

According to an arrest warrant, the man is also facing charges for domestic battery in the moments leading up to the crash.

The arrest warrant for Brice Boulet, 47, states he faces multiple felony charges including vehicular homicide, reckless driving causing serious bodily injury and false imprisonment.

The June 23 crash on I-10 near Highway 301 left a man dead and sent three people, including Boulet, to the hospital with serious injuries.

A Florida Highway Patrol crash report states around 9 p.m., a sedan and SUV were traveling on I-10 West in the right lane, when the sedan, driven by Boulet, rear-ended the SUV. 

A witness told FHP Boulet’s vehicle was “traveling at an extremely high rate of speed” at the time of the crash. 

“Both vehicles veered right on the shoulder and entered the tree line,” the report states.

FHP said the 54-year-old man driving the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene.

The warrant states Boulet’s girlfriend was a passenger in his vehicle at the time of the crash and he’s accused of punching her in the face while driving and refusing to let her out of the vehicle.

The warrant states the victim sent a photo of her facial injuries to her daughter and asked her to call 911. 

Boulet “noticed that she sent it [the image] and became even more angry and continued to refuse to let her out of the vehicle,” the warrant said.

Investigators said the victim’s daughter started tracking her location on the application “Life360” and saw she was traveling approximately 120 miles per hour on I-10 in Boulet’s vehicle.

The daughter provided local law enforcement with her mother’s location so they could conduct a traffic stop on Boulet’s vehicle, the warrant said. The crash occurred before law enforcement could intervene.

As a result of the battery, the victim sustained “permanent tooth loss, multiple broken ribs and severe bruising to her face, chest and arms,” the warrant states. She suffered other “incapacitating” injuries in the crash and has been on a ventilator at UF Health Jacksonville since the crash.

Investigators believe Boulet was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.

Boulet was on felony probation out of Lake County, Florida, at the time of the crash. He is being held on more than $400,000 bond and is set to be in court on July 22.
