Water issues in Cradock
Taps ran dry in Cradock.

Water carting were made available for all affected areas during this period, whilst residents were urged to use water, when available, sparingly.

CRADOCK NEWS - Recently, many residents in Nquba (Cradock) whose water supply was disconnected had no alternative water source to rely on.

Maintenance was in progress and the reservoir levels were critically low due to low raw water flow from the Fish River to the canal.

On 26 June residents of Cradock were advised by Ggcobani Mashiyi, Municipal Manager of the Chris Hani District Municipality, that the annual maintenance work by the Department of Water and Sanitation was in progress and was expected to be completed by 30 June.

Water rationing schedules were subsequently implemented.

Water carting were made available for all affected areas during this period, whilst residents were urged to use water, when available, sparingly.

The municipality informed residents of Cradock on 1 July, that the annual water maintenance work has been successfully completed and that reservoirs were being refilled. This process was expected to take approximately one week. Residents were warned that lower water pressure or temporary interruptions might be experienced during this time and were advised that water carting will continue in the interim to ensure everyone has access to water.
