Robert “Bob” Eugene Thompson, 74, of the Freemans Creek Community, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Sellers Assisted Living Home, after a six-month struggle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease. Bob was born in Bethesda, MD, on August 16, 1949, to Fern Ione Sebring Thompson of Naples, FL and the late Robert Earl Thompson.

Bob is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Pamela “Pam” Lynn Thompson, whom he met in high school.

Bob will be remembered by his two sons: Todd William Thompson and wife, Heather, of Weston and Benjamin Robert Thompson of Washington, DC; one brother, Edward Thompson and wife, Gay, of Marion, NC; one sister, Janice Kraig and husband, Bruce, of Chicago, IL; three step-granddaughters: Madison Mae Kerns, Kassidy Collins, and Devaney Kerns; and one niece, Lyric Lilly and husband, Lee.

Bob graduated Great Mills High School in Maryland then attended St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Later he transferred to the University of MD, where in 1972 he earned a bachelor’s degree in education. He received his master’s degree in education administration from West Virginia University. After working for two years in Upshur County, Bob was employed by Lewis County Board of Education, where he eventually served either as principal or teacher in Central, Peterson, Kitsonville, Alum Bridge, Jane Lew, Roanoke, and St. Patrick’s Schools.

On his farm, he loved his cattle. They all had names, he knew their ages, and who their mother was. He never made a profit from them, but he certainly helped keep the feed store in business.

Though Bob was not a native to WV, he was known by many in Lewis County. There was rarely a trip to town when someone would not come up to him and ask “Remember me, Mr. Thompson?”

This kind, generous, and good-natured jokester will be missed and remembered by all.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation at St. Patrick Catholic Church located at 210 Center Ave. in Weston from 9:30-11 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024. Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. with Reverend Father Douglas A. Ondeck officiating. Interment will follow at the Family Farm in Freemansburg.

We, at Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service located at 144 Hackers Creek Rd. In Jane Lew, are honored and privileged to serve the family of Robert “Bob” Eugene Thompson. Online condolences may be expressed at www.PatBoyleFuneralHome.com
