Afenifere Tasks Aiyedatiwa On Reacquisition Of Heritage Bank, Resuscitation Of Moribund Industries

AKURE – Pan Yoruba socio-political group organization, Afenifere, has called on Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to liaise with the Federal Government on how to reacquire recently liquidated Heritage Bank.

Rising from its meeting on Tuesday, the Ondo State chapter of the group urged the governor to work towards resuscitating all industries established by the late Adekunle Ajasin-led administration which are currently moribund.

This was contained in a communique issued by the organization and signed by state Publicity Secretary of the group, Eric Oluwole at the end of the meeting held at the residence of Pa Reuben Fasoranti in Akure, the state capital.

The communique reads: “The Ondo State Government should liaise with the Federal Government to revive all the economic legacies floated by the Adekunle Ajasin administration, the state should take necessary action towards the acquisition of Heritage Bank.

“The legacies include the licence of the Heritage Bank and we advise the Ondo State Government to reverse it to its original founding fathers, that is the Ondo State Government.

“Other industries include ceramic industry, Okitipupa Oil Mill, and others.”

Among other resolutions of the organization, Governor Aiyedatiwa was urged not relent in his efforts to provide security for lives and property of the people.

Afenifere implored Governor Aiyedatiwa to continue fund the state Security Network otherwise known as Amotekun Corps for the better of the people of the state.

“Afenifere commended the state government for not relenting its effort on the security, especially the Amotekun outfit floated by the former Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

“Afenifere also urge the state government to continue the funding of Amotekun and other security agencies in the state.”

The organization also tasked the state government to include in the curricula of primary and secondary schools and make compulsory the teaching and learning of History and Yoruba Language for conservation of the cultural heritage and language.

The communique reads further that “Afenifere advises the state government to adopt as part of its education policies, the Yoruba language and History as compulsory subjects to be taught at the primary and secondary schools.”

Moreover, the organization called the people of the state to engage in agriculture to stem the impact of food scarcity.

The communique reads: “Afenifere urges the people of the state to massively return to the farm and embark on aggressive planting in order to address high rate of food shortage facing the state.”
