Aston Villa have been especially busy on the transfer front in recent weeks as Unai Emery looks to fine-tune his squad.

Since the summer transfer window opened, the Villans have brought in five new players, while four have left Villa Park.

Lewis Dobbin, Ian Maatsen, Samuel Iling-Junior, Enzo Barrenechea and Ross Barkley have all arrived at Villa in recent days.

Meanwhile, the Villans have sold Douglas Luiz, Tim Iroegbunam, Omari Kellyman and Morgan Sanson.

The biggest of those deals was the one which saw Luiz join Juventus, with Iling-Junior and Barrenechea moving in the opposite direction.

Now, one of Villa’s new arrivals has taken to Instagram to express his pride at having joined the claret-and-blue outfit.

Paulo Dybala congratulates Enzo Barrenechea for Aston Villa move

Barrenechea has joined Villa for around £6.7million, plus £2.6million in add-ons, according to BBC Sport.

On Tuesday, the 23-year-old took to Instagram to write: “Very happy for this new stage! Ready for this challenge, see you soon.”

Fellow Argentine Paulo Dybala was one of many well-wishers, writing: “Congratulations brother! All the best.”

The likes of Lucas Beltran, Nico Cutrig and Marco Pellegrino also wished Barrenechea well in the comments.

What can Aston Villa fans expect from Barrenechea?

Barrenechea is a talented young midfielder with his whole career ahead of him, who proved himself in Serie A last season.

The 23-year-old, who can play at No. 6 and No. 8, was at Frosinone last season, and made 36 Serie A appearances.

Former Juventus U19 coach Andrea Bonatti told Tuttomercatoweb earlier this year that Barrenechea is a “really strong” player.

“He’s no different from Rodri or (Sergio) Busquets,” he said. “He’s a playmaker and can also play as a midfielder now he is much more complete.

“He can do well in the Juve context, he has the potential for that level, but he will have to confirm what he is doing and it is not easy to repeat himself.”
