–         Kicks Against FAAN’s Remittance To NSIB

LAGOS – The Federal Government has once again been charged to stop the continuous deduction of 50 per cent revenues from the aviation agencies.

The government had about two years ago introduced a Treasury Single Account (TSA) and compelled all its revenue generating agencies to remit 40 per cent of their revenues into the coffers.

But, a few months after the present government came onboard, the remittance was increased to 50 per cent, a decision, which didn’t go down well with most stakeholders, especially in the country’s aviation industry.

This time around, members of the Federal Parastals & Private Sector Pensioners Association of Nigeria (FEPPPAN) have lent their voice to kick against the continuous deduction of the revenues by the Federal Government.

Also, the pensioners kicked against the 5 per cent deductions of revenue from the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) into the coffers of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB).

The pensioners took this decision after rising from a meeting of FEPPPAN’s all chairmen and secretaries held in Enugu.

The body noted that the indiscriminate deductions would not allow FAAN to meet its statutory obligations to the public and cater for staff and pensioners’ plights.

A statement signed by Chief Abah John, Comrade Emeka Njoku, Chairman and Secretary of the group, respectively, frowned at the poor medical treatment of pensioners and called on the management of FAAN to respect the agreement reached on medical treatment to pensioners.

While commending FAAN’s management for paying pensions as at when due, the body noted that the issues concerning FAAN pensioners were very germane, especially its welfare.

They condemned any fraudulent act in the system and vowed to expose such acts to the authority, ranging from revenue collection points and mismanagement of funds, among others.

At the meeting, the national office was mandated to commence the development of their structure at the union piece of land within the airport in order to avoid encroachment of the land.

The group also urged the management of FAAN to embark on more developmental projects

They congratulated the national officers and pensioners of FAAN for a successful migration to FEPPPAN from National Union of Pensioners (NUP), in accordance with the Federal Trade Union Act establishing the same.
