New Delhi: Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Nupur Sharma has launched a sharp criticism of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his controversial ‘violent Hindu’ remark made in the Lok Sabha. She countered Gandhi’s statement by asserting, "If Hindus were violent, there would not have been a situation where a Hindu Sanatani daughter, in her own country, lost her independence and freedom."

Addressing an event in Ghaziabad, Nupur Sharma said, "Maharaj ji, it’s not like I do too much. This Dharam is not mine alone. It belongs to everyone. That I am the lone guardian of this Dharam is also not the intention. It is not what God believes I am worthy of either. But for Sanatanis, for Hindus, there is no other country in the world. That is the truth."

She continued, "When people in high positions say that Hindus are violent, when people in high positions say Hindus, Sanatanis, should be wiped out... I will say two things: what I have seen in the last two years is an attempt to finish Sanatanis because maybe something was written on WhatsApp or Facebook.” Nupur urged the audience to recognize what she views as a conspiracy against Sanatanis.

Her speech was met with loud applause from the audience. “Here, you come to hear the Bhagwad Katha. I won’t say anything more in this environment. But I will say that get together, become one. Maharaj ji is absolutely correct. May no other member of any other family, let alone the daughter of any family, have to see and witness what I had to,” Sharma said.

She added, “Till I am breathing, I am the daughter or son or whatever you want to see me as of your home. I will be standing for you for whatever you see me as. I will keep raising my voice,” drawing further applause from those present.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi's "violent Hindu" remark had stirred controversy, prompting a strong response from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Modi criticized the remark, stating, "Calling the entire Hindu community violent is a very serious matter." Subsequently, certain objectionable portions of Gandhi’s speech were expunged from the official record of proceedings.
