The city of Huntsville is pausing efforts to let residents have another housing unit in addition to their primary residence on their property – for now.

Mayor Tommy Battle said the city is doing a rewrite on an amendment to allow the accessory dwelling units – also known as ADUs – that was passed by Huntsville Planning Commission in May. The city council must approve the amendment before it goes into effect.
