Assembly recalls suspended APC lawmaker who maligned Governor Oborevwori

The Delta House of Assembly has recalled Mr Matthew Omonade, an All Progressives Congress lawmaker, representing Ughelli North I constituency after 29 days on suspension.

The decision was announced by the Speaker, Mr Dennis Guwor, during plenary in Asaba following the adoption of the report by the ad-hoc committee set up to investigate the suspension of the lawmaker.

It would be recalled that the Assembly had on May 14, suspended the lawmaker over alleged gross misconduct.

The Majority Leader, Mr Emeka Nwaobi (PDP-Aniocha North) who is the Chairman of the Committee in his report, noted that the committee after thorough investigation recommends that Omonade be sounded a note of warning against future occurrence.

He also recommended that the suspended lawmakers should carefully study the rules of the House, knowing that laws were universal and could be domesticated in any state or country without anyone being accused of plagiarism.

Nwaobi also recommended that the suspension of Omonade be lifted, having apologised.

In their various submissions, Mr Oboro Preyor (PDP-Bomadi) and Mr Austine Uroye (PDP-Warri South I) supported the recommendations of the committee.

The committees’ recommendations which were unanimously adopted by members, when put to a voice vote by the Speaker, Mr Dennis Guwor, was seconded by Mr Edafe Emakpor, the Minority Leader.
