Wizkid, the Grammy Winning Nigeria singer and songwriter has revealed more details about his forthcoming album titled “Morayo.”  In a short telephone interview with Joseph Furness of Esquire (a US based magazine), the “essence,” crooner revealed a bit about the inspiration behind the album and what it meant to him.

He said “I’ve named it my mum’s name,” his mother’s name being ‘Morayo’, a Yoruba word that means ‘I see joy’.

“It’s very important for people to know where the source of my magic comes from. I’m African, I’m Nigerian; that’s my blood, that’s my DNA. So, it’s important for me to push [Yoruba] out there – let people know about my culture. I like to know about everyone else’s culture, their way of life, and this is mine.”

While he doesn’t reveal much information about the collaboration on the album, he gladly informed the magazine that he was open to collaborations “We’re meant to collaborate – that’s the essence of humans. We’re here to work together.”

Morayo is one of the albums expected to be released later this year. Wizkid has continued to inform his fans via X about his readiness for the release of his seventh studio album.
