Television’s most famous family has blessed us with another episode of The Kardashians, but blessed may be too strong of a word. Once again, fans can expect recycled storylines and overproduced narratives, showing the family is running out of creativity after two decades on the air. But fans did get some answers to one of the biggest questions in the fandom – what the heck happened to Rob Kardashian, and is he doing okay?

Episode four of season five opens with Khloe Kardashian hanging out with her long-time bestie Malika Haqq, who reveals she’s hoping to have a second child with the help of a sperm donor, as she’s no longer with the father of her 3-year old son. This scene was already teased weeks ago, suggesting the producers think it’s going to be one of the most intriguing storylines of the season. And while it’s usually boring to watch scenes that have already been heavily promoted, this one was still interesting, given that the ick factor was so high.

Rob Quickly Turned Down Khloe’s Gross Proposition

Khloe doesn’t hesitate in suggesting they hit up her brother Rob to see if he’d donate to Malika’s cause. Khloe thinks it makes sense, given that Malik and Rob have history. Long-time fans will recall the duo being flirty in the first seasons of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and Khloe admits the two even hooked up.

“Why don’t I ask Rob for some sperm? We like to keep it in the family,” Khloe suggests before phoning her brother, even though Malika expressed discomfort. “You guys have already slept together.”

This scene is memorable since it’s one of the only times in recent years Rob has appeared on television. He was once a regular figure on his family’s reality show, but when his own spin-off Rob & Chyna blew up in the wake of his dramatic breakup from Blac Chyna (and subsequent legal drama), he’s taken a step back from the spotlight, leading many fans to question what’s happened to him.

Rob quickly picks up the phone, suggesting the scene was scheduled in advance and the call wasn’t a surprise to the Arthur George founder. But Rob quickly dashes Khloe’s hopes when he keeps repeating “I can’t c** anymore.”

Khloe tried questioning what he means by that, but Rob doesn’t provide anymore details. And frankly, I can probably speak for the fan base when I say no one wanted further explanation.

Khloe Gives A Sad Update On Her Intimate Life

Perhaps the theme of this episode was Khloe acting inappropriately, or at least not being afraid to be TMI. In a later scene, Kourtney Kardashian point blank asks if Khloe is having sex. When Khloe says it’s a no, Kourtney harshly responds, “I wouldn’t think so.”

Khloe then somehow starts talking about Tristan (UGH), showing that she’s not over the man who cheated on her multiple times, even though she swears to the camera they’re over romantically.

Later in the episode, viewers are treated to a boring monologue from Kim Kardashian complaining about how hard it is to be a working mom. She says she needs to cut back her schedule before proceeding to reveal she’s working on a new acting project, despite the backlash from American Horror Story. Kim and Kris have apparently been talking to Netflix about a film or show following Kim’s adventures as a lawyer (though she doesn’t even have the license to practice yet). Something tells me this is already going to be a flop…

Kim Complains About The Struggles Of Having Kids

Later in the episode, Kim complains when her son Saint calls asking to order KFC. She says the 8-year-old has great negotiating skills but is obsessed with sugar, expressing surprise that this isn’t normal child behaviour. Once again, it seems like it’s Kim’s world, and we’re just living in it. It must be nice to have four nannies on call!

The rest of the storylines are a bit of a flop. Kendall Jenner returns to her high school to preach about the importance of mental health like she’s some kind of expert, while Kourtney is rushing to prepare for baby Rocky’s birth (whereas in real-time, the infant has been earthside for almost a year).

Kourtney makes everyone gag when her mom Kris Jenner asks her if she’s prepared for the baby, and Kourtney replies that she won’t be until she has sex with her husband Travis Barker (who, at the time, was abroad touring with his band Blink 182). It’s good to know Travis and Kourtney’s over-the-top PDA hasn’t been stifled by her 9-month baby bump.

The TMI confessions carry on to one of the final scenes, where Khloe gathers with mom Kris and Kourtney’s ex Scott Disick to see if they know anyone Malika could procreate with. Khloe accompanied Malika to a sperm bank, but told her friend to explore “other avenues” before settling on that route, and it appears this is her solution after Rob turned her down.

When Khloe explained the situation, Scott made everyone uncomfortable by making a pass at Malika, even if he meant it as a joke. “I’ve always wanted to bang you. Let’s do it,” he says to awkward laughs.

Scott makes everyone even more on edge when he then proclaims he can see Khloe’s nipples and asks if she’s wearing SKIMS’ new bra (shameless family promotion, clearly). He tells her that her chest looks good, which makes Khloe shudder, even though the two are known for their uncomfortable close relationship.

Kris Jenner Admits To Miscarriage And Wanting More Kids

Kris encourages Malika to look into her options, and gets very candid, revealing she struggled to conceive her two youngest kids, Kendall and Kylie Jenner. The matriarch admits she even had multiple miscarriages before having her girls, whom she shares with ex Caitlyn Jenner.

“I’d be pregnant right now if I could,” Kris adds, though she says she’s not actually serious when Khloe says there are options.

Khloe seems pressed for everyone around her to have a baby, but she won’t address speculation that she’s gearing up for baby no. 3 with Tristan Thompson. But given that the Good American founder still seems caught up on the NBA player, perhaps we’ll see her visiting the fertility clinic in future episodes to explore her options.
