'Let's hope he stays healthy' - Noah Lyles reacts to Kishane Thompson's 9.82s at Jamaica Olympic Trials
World's fastest man Noah Lyles is wary of the threat posed by Kishane Thompson following his jaw-dropping Personal Best (PB) of 9.82s to win his heat race at the Jamaican Olympic Trials.
The 22-year-old finished ahead of Ackeem Blake, who clocked a Season's Best (SB) of 9.95s, while Sandrey Davison was third in 10.00s.
More impressively, it was his season opener and ended as the fastest overall time across all heats, thus putting him in pole position to challenge for the title and earn his spot on the Jamaican team for the Paris Olympic Games.
Kishane Thompson and Oblique Seville dropped easy wins in their 100m heats to qualify for the semifinals at the Jamaica Olympic Trials.
Simultaneously as the Jamaican trials was going on, Lyles had expectedly won his 200m race at the US Trials, clocking the fastest time across all heats of 20.07s.
Noah Lyles, Kenny Bednarek, and Erriyon Knighton dominated their respective 200m heats to qualify for the semifinals at the US Olympic Trials.
In a post-race interview when asked if he was interested in the proceedings at the Caribbean country, Lyles responded with a cunning answer.
"Shoot I wanna see what they do, I'm trying to see something."
The rivalry between Noah Lyles and Oblique Seville is building up nicely ahead of the Olympic Games as the world's fastest man has declared he's not losing again to the Jamaican in Paris.
"You wanna know because Kishane Thompson ran 9.82," replied the interviewer
"Alright, nice, Let's just hope he stays healthy," said Lyles.
"Alright nice...Let's hope he stays healthy."
