The stage is set for the 2024 Champions League winner to be crowned.

Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund will meet in the final of the 2023/2024 competition, after eliminating Bayern Munich and PSG, respectively in the semis.

Although this will be the first final that both teams will compete against each other, these two teams already have an important history of confrontations, including three other knockout matches.

Real Madrid vs. Borussia Dortmund head-to-head stats

Ahead the final that they will play in 2024 at Wembley, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund have met in 14 games, all in the Champions League. So far, Real hold the advantage with six wins. There have been five draws between the two teams and three victories for Dortmund.

The two teams have faced each other six times, over three two-legged matches, in the knockout rounds.

The first of those came in the 1998 Champions League semifinals, with Madrid winning 2-0 on aggregate thanks to goals from Fernando Morientes and Christian Karembeu in the first leg at the Bernabeu.

The next occasion was in 2013, also in the semifinals. Dortmund won 4-1 in the first leg, with a goal from Robert Lewandowski, and although Madrid recovered with a 2-0 win at the Bernabeu, it was not enough to reverse the result.

The following year there was revenge for Madrid in the 2014 quarterfinals. The Spanish giants won 3-0 in the first leg, with goals from Gareth Bale, Isco and Cristiano Ronaldo, and although the Germans won 2-0 at home, Los Blancos celebrated 3-2 on aggregate.

The 2024 final will be the first time that the teams meet for the title.
