The last week of June took the athletic world by surprise. The single week witnessed the 100-meter world lead list in the men’s category, keeping a turn as two sprinters raced to their lives. One is Noah Lyles, and the other one is his Jamaican rival, Kishane Thompson. In registering his season-best 100m timing, Noah took 9.83 seconds in the US Olympic track and field trials. That clocking put him in the third position in the world lead lineup.

However, five days later, Jamaicans gave a fitting reply as Kishane Thompson took the mantle to finish his 100m run in 9.77 seconds in the Jamaican trials. Such a play between the fire sparks impressed a former world champion.

Adam Gemili, the British sprinter who had options to counter Usain Bolt on the track in the past, thinks that Noah will not be alone in usurping Bolt’s records, at least not after the fiery trials. Rather, he is counting on Kishane Thompson highly to carry out the hefty deed soon. In his conversation with Talk Sport, the former world champion said, “But Noah, he can get close to it. Kishane Thompson, the Jamaican, also. He’s run really well.”
