Governor Makinde Messed Up Oyo LG Elections As 80% Voters Were Disenfranchised – APC Laments

The outcome of the election showed that the PDP won the chairmanship seats in the 33 local government areas of the state.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that Governor Seyi Makinde and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) messed up the Oyo State Local Government elections, as about 80 per cent of eligible voters were deliberately disenfranchised in the polls on Saturday, April 27.

The APC Publicity Secretary, Wale Sadare, stated this while speaking with newsmen and in reaction to the election results declared on Sunday, by the Chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, Isiaka Olagunju (SAN).

The outcome of the election showed that the PDP won the chairmanship seats in the 33 local government areas of the state.

Sadare, who described the election as a complete sham, said that his party(APC) had expected a decent electoral process.

Sadare said: “It was a complete sham and a rape of democracy. We expected a decent electoral process but the governor and his party (PDP) connived with the state’s Independent Electoral body to mess everything up.

“About 80 per cent of the eligible voters were deliberately disenfranchised and they came up with fictitious figures as votes recorded. The leadership of our great party will meet very soon and we will make public our decision soon.”

The APC Publicity Secretary had earlier on Saturday demanded for the cancellation of the local government election on the ground that “the election falls below the minimum global standard.”
