NJI Administrator Tasks Judiciary Staff On Financial Managememt, Transparency

ABUJA – The Administrator of National Judicial Institute (NJI) Abuja, Justice Salisu Abdullahi (Rtd), has tasked judiciary staff on ensuring prudent financial management, transparency and accountability in the discharge of their duties.

Justice Abdullahi gave the charge on Monday, at the 2024 hybrid national workshop on management of judicial financial resources.

The NJI Administrator said the 3-day workshop is designed for Directors of Finance, Deputy Directors, Chief Accountants, Auditors and other staff handling the finances and resources of their respective judiciaries.

The workshop, Justice Abdullahi hinted, is aimed at equipping participants with the requisite knowledge and skills, necessary for the effective management of judicial financial resources.

“As the principal focal point of judicial activities relating to the promotion of efficiency, uniformity and improvement in the quality of judicial services in the superior and lower courts, the National Judicial Institute is empowered to conduct courses for all categories of judicial officers and their support staff, with a view of expanding and improving their overall knowledge and performance in their ditferent sections of service.

“Ultimately, this engagement lends credence to the crucial nature of your various roles in the administration of justice and invariably reinforces the need to ensure that you stay up to date with the evolution of financial management, global best practices as well as
fundamental principles, that are indispensable to the performance of your duties” Justice Abdullahi posited.

As clearly reflected in the theme of the workshop; “Strengthening Financial Transperancy and Accountability in the Judiciary” the Administrator advised participants to pay rapt attention as moderators of the workshop will be interacting with them and sharing vital insights on topical issues such as budgeting, fraud prevention and the deployment of technology in financial management.

The Administrator expressed his profound gratitude
to the Chief Justice of Nigeria and Chairman Board of Governors of the National Judicial Institute, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, for his unwavering support towards all the activities and programmes of the Institute.

Also, he thanked the Chairman of the Education Committee of the Board of Governors of the Institute, Hon. Justice K.M.O. Kekere-Ekun, for his invaluable insights, guidance and support.
