Preparations are in top gear to mark the 50th anniversary of the installation of socialite, Abiola Dosumu, as the Erelu of Lagos, having been installed in 1974.

In a statement sent to Society Plus, Dosumu stated that a series of events had been lined up to mark the milestone anniversary, starting from July 28, 2024, and would run for a year.

The Erelu stated that the event would not just be a personal milestone for her but a validation and testament to the enduring cultural values of Lagos, which she had been a custodian and promoter in the last 50 years.

She said, “This milestone represents not only a personal achievement for me, but also a testament to the enduring tradition and values that have shaped our kingdom for generations. That is why I want to use this milestone to not only further promote the rich cultural heritage of Lagos State, but also showcase literary works about the state’s rich history, and also empower people.”

She added that activities lined up for the celebration include cultural displays, traditional performances, and community gathering; all of which, she said, would serve to highlight the rich heritage and customs of the people.
