The Osun State Government’s Special Taskforce, charged with overseeing the distribution of petroleum products, conducted operations at several filling stations in Iwo on Friday. These actions were part of a broader initiative to ensure that fuel is fairly distributed and not hoarded, amid concerns over irregularities in the availability of petroleum.

During the raid, the taskforce compelled one station to sell 400 litres of the 800 litres they had been withholding from the public. This intervention highlights ongoing efforts by state authorities to address fuel shortages and prevent artificial scarcity created by hoarding practices.

Gbenga Lawrence, a media aide to Governor Ademola Adeleke, reported on the operation, indicating the government’s proactive stance in regulating fuel distribution to mitigate inconvenience to consumers and stabilize the local economy affected by sporadic fuel availability.

Sharing a video, the caption reads: “In Iwọ, the Osun State Taskforce on Petroleum Products has compelled JimRis Petroleum Marketer to start dispensing 400 litres out of the 800 litres hoarded in its tank. The station has since been dispensing at ₦980 per litre.”
