Crash occurred on E Colonial Drive near Cox Road

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A 36-year-old Orlando man riding a motorcycle through Orange County died after rear-ending a pickup truck late Saturday on East Colonial Drive, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred around 11 p.m. in the westbound lanes of East Colonial Drive near Cox Road, troopers said.

According to an FHP crash report, the motorcyclist failed to slow down for the pickup truck ahead of him in the inside lane. The motorcycle struck the truck, ejecting the rider and sending the bike into a ditch off the roadway, the report states.

The motorcyclist was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead, troopers said, adding he was wearing a helmet during the crash.

The four occupants of the pickup truck — a 33-year-old man driving three passengers, a 29-year-old woman, a 35-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman, all of Orlando — were uninjured in the crash, according to the report.

FHP is still investigating.
