Mumbai Police Bust Inter-State Illegal Arms Syndicate
The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has successfully dismantled an inter-state gang suspected of trading highly sophisticated illegal pistols, an official confirmed on Wednesday.
The crime branch's Bandra Unit seized eight pistols and 138 live cartridges during the operation. The crackdown began on June 30, when the team apprehended Mitailal Gulab Choudhary (53) in Juhu. Choudhary, originally from Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh, was in possession of one pistol and seven live cartridges at the time.
Upon further interrogation, Choudhary revealed additional details that led to the arrest of Dawal Chandrappa Devarmani alias Dhawal (34) in Chinchpada, Airoli. Dhawal was found to be procuring arms through Choudhary and distributing them in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. With this, the police seized another pistol and five live cartridges. Both suspects had already sold two pistols and ammunition to Pushpak Jagdish Madhvi (38) of Ghansoli, who was subsequently apprehended.
