Rob Schneider Election Comment Takes Off Online—'Let's Remember'

Newsweek 2 days ago

Rob Schneider appeared to take a thinly veiled swipe at President Joe Biden in an election post that has gone viral on social media.

While Biden is expected to face off against former President Donald Trump at the polls in November, actor and comedian Schneider endorsed independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in the 2024 Democratic Party presidential primaries.

On Tuesday, Saturday Night Live alum Schneider took to X, formerly Twitter, to share a message with his followers regarding the political showdown.

"Let's remember to eat our vegetables this year, not elect them," read the post from Schneider, who has publicly criticized Biden on a number of occasions.

As of press time, the post has garnered more than 600,000 views. Newsweek has contacted representatives of Biden and Schneider via email for comment.

The post comes as Biden faces pressure from some members of his own party to drop out of the presidential race amid concerns over his cognitive health.

On June 27, Biden and Trump met in Atlanta for their first presidential debate of this election cycle. During the televised clash hosted by CNN, a number of viewers stated that Biden sounded hoarse and lacked energy throughout the night. A Biden aide told Newsweek that the president was battling a cold during the debate.

The aftermath of the debate saw some Democrats call for Biden to be replaced by a new candidate before November's Election Day over his faltering performance.

Biden blamed his poor execution on failing to "listen" to his staff and instead deciding "to travel around the world a couple of times" before the debate, telling supporters at a fundraiser in Virginia on Tuesday that he "almost fell asleep on stage."

While Trump was widely accepted to have emerged from the debate the victor, he has also faced speculation regarding his mental health. Earlier this year, a leading psychiatrist claimed there was "overwhelming" evidence that Trump is living with dementia.

Despite questions about both presidential candidates' cognitive abilities, Biden and Trump have been given relatively clean bills of health by their respective physicians.

Meanwhile, Schneider appeared on Fox & Friends First in April to explain his support for Kennedy.

Schneider said health care is one of his top priorities, stating: "We spent five times more than they do in Europe for health care. And we have way worse results. We can't have 60 percent of the American population, unhealthy, 54 percent of children.

"That needs to be the biggest story for you guys in all mass media. The fact that children have chronic illness at over 50 percent, that's a 10-12-year-old statistic. So we have to get people healthy."

He added: "[Kennedy is] talking about things that really matter."

Schneider said that people are tired of being offered the same thing, alluding to the anticipated rematch between President Biden and former President Trump.
