Social media is always buzzing with controversies and anyone who shares their heartfelt opinion on anything is faced with a myriad of opposing viewpoints. Especially the topic of parenting has become a significant point of debate nowadays. May it be strict parenting or a liberal one, there are people to disapprove and point fingers at both. A stay-at-home mom of two named Aubriana—who goes by @theorganicmami on TikTok—garnered both positive and negative responses when she shared her unorthodox way of raising her daughter. Over 1.6 million views came in and a fierce debate ensued over the mom's parenting methods.

Starting the video with the most intriguing statement, the mom shared that she doesn't allow her daughter to have sleepovers, not even with family members. "She will never be left alone with a male. I don't care if you're the grandpa, the uncle or the cousin," she said. On the other hand, she is determined to treat her daughter the same way she treats her son. Letting her son go out late but not her daughter, because it's too dangerous, will not be her parenting style. "Secrets will not be kept from your parents," Aubriana said. She added that relatives who secretly offer her daughter candies and ask the kid not to tell her mom would not be entertained. Also, her daughter wouldn't have to kiss or hug a relative just because they asked her to nor is she forced to respect someone who doesn't respect her.

"As a child, she still will have opinions and emotions she's allowed to feel a certain way. We will take mental health days when needed and she's allowed to express herself and learn to regulate her emotions," Aubriana said. The mom then emphasized how she would not put her daughter into a public school system that doesn't teach anything that she really cared about. Holistic methods over Western medicine is another point in her parenting approach. "I'm teaching her to stand up for herself, set boundaries, and say no," she added.

The mom is not keen on forcing her daughter to follow the habit of sharing or finishing her plate of food. Also, Aubriana always ensures to create a positive body image and avoids negative comments about herself or her daughter. "I'm teaching her she can always come to me and never have to hide anything. As a mom, I'm not always right and I make mistakes and I'll own up to it and apologize. Nothing will ever be just because I said so," she added. Aubriana looks forward to traveling with her daughter a lot so that she can make more memories with her. "We already started saying daily affirmations together. I want her to know her worth and not ever look to others for validation," the mom said.

Many internet users were quite baffled by the ban on sleepovers and the mom's lack of trust in family members. "She won’t ever be allowed to have sleepovers with her friends? No judgment. Just that those were some of my best childhood memories," remarked @madieemurray. "Waay too strict. Like, no sleepovers even with family members is a bit ridiculous," chimed in @rhirhi036.

However, many others rallied around the mom's approach. "People are getting mad about the no sleepovers rule but it's actually good speaking from my childhood experiences," said @wastelandkilos. "All of these rules are great and for everyone complaining about the 'no sleepovers,' rule is wild. There’s so much that could happen," added @maddie.1138.
