Nasihah (Advice): The best Jihad for a woman
Sayyidah Aa’isha Radiyallahu anha narrates: I said, “O Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ)! We consider Jihad as the best deed.” Rasulullah (ﷺ) said, “The best Jihad (for women) is a Hajj Mabrur (an accepted Hajj).” (Sahih Bukhari)

Question and Answer:
- Is there any authenticity to the claim that when an individual returns from Hajj or Umrah, their supplications (du’as) are accepted for forty days? I have not encountered this information before and am seeking clarification on its validity.
- There are several narrations regarding the supplications of those who have performed Hajj. However, we have not found any specific mention of a forty-day period of acceptance for du’as after returning from Hajj or Umrah.
Below are relevant hadith that relate to the spiritual status of those who have completed Hajj:
- Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said: “When you meet a Haaji, greet him, shake hands with him and ask him to seek forgiveness for you before he enters his home, for his sins have been forgiven.” (Musnad Ahmad 2: 69)
- Rasulullah Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam said: “O Allah, forgive the sins of the Haaji and the sins of those for whom the Haaji seeks forgiveness.” (Mustadrak Hakim 1: 441)
- Sayyiduna Umar Radhiyallahu Anhu is reported to have said: “The Haaji will be forgiven, and all those for whom the Haaji seeks forgiveness, for the remainder of Dhul Hijjah, Muharram, Safar until the tenth of Rabi’ul Awwal.” (Musannaf Ibn Abi Shaybah, # 12800)
The last narration of Sayyiduna Umar Radhiyallahu Anhu conveys that a Haaji’s supplication for forgiveness is accepted for approximately 90 days after the Day of Arafah.
