Barcelona and Manchester City reportedly scouted 29-year-old Bayern Munich utility man Joshua Kimmich in Germany’s UEFA Euro 2024 clash with Spain.

According to a report by Graeme Bailey on HITC, Barcelona and Manchester City are interested in Joshua Kimmich. The two European bigwigs are keen on bolstering their midfield units, with both clubs running the rule over the 29-year-old Bayern Munich utility man during Germany’s clash in the UEFA Euro 2024 round of 16 against Spain this week.

Joshua Kimmich has been one of the best players in the world during his spell with Bayern Munich. The German international joined the Bavarian giants from VfB Stuttgart nearly a decade ago and has blossomed into a dependable utility man who excels as a right-back and a holding midfielder. In addition, he has won several trophies with the Bavarian club, including the treble.

The 29-year-old has turned out nearly 400 times thus far for Bayern Munich while chipping in with 42 goals and 104 assists. However, Kimmich is unsettled at the Allianz Arena after a frustrating 2023/24 campaign. In addition, he faces an uncertain future at the Bundesliga club after entering the final 12 months of his contract.

Such a situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs across Europe. The latest update has revealed that Barcelona and Manchester City have stepped up their efforts to sign the experienced utility man after scouting him during Germany’s clash in the UEFA Euro 2024 round of 16 against Spain.

Barcelona’s interest in Joshua Kimmich is understandable. The Catalan giants have been scouring the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window after failing to fill the void left by the departure of Sergio Busquets last year. So, the Bayern Munich star has emerged as a viable target for Barcelona.

As for Manchester City, they want a versatile midfielder who can be a long-term successor to Kevin De Bruyne, who faces an uncertain future at the Etihad.
