Kai Havertz has surprised Martin Keown

Well, the man who made 440 appearances for Arsenal told Havertz after full-time that his aerial ability has stunned him.

While interviewing the man from Aachen on TNT Sports, Keown said: “It has surprised me (his aerial ability). There’s rarely a header you don’t win. Brilliant in the air.”

In truth, we don’t know what the 57-year-old was seeing before, as Havertz has always been dangerous in the air thanks to his towering 6ft 4in frame.

Arsenal even paid reference to the German’s aerial dominance in his player bio on the club’s official website, writing: “Strong with either foot, at 6ft 4ins Kai is also very effective in the air, and more than a quarter of his Premier League goals were headed.”

Only Takehiro Tomiyasu (six) won more headers than Havertz’s four against Bournemouth today – as WhoScored shows.

However, there was much more to the 24-year-old’s game than just winning headers against the Cherries.

Havertz arguably should have won the Man of the Match award today.

Havertz also won three freekicks for Arsenal to relieve pressure on his teammates, while recording two key passes as well.

It was an incredibly strong performance, in which the Arsenal forward always made himself available to teammates and held the ball up well.

If the Gunners do end up snatching Manchester City’s Premier League title away this season, Arteta and Arsenal fans alike will have a lot to thank Havertz for.
